Capture California

What is a YOLT? Well, you may have heard the term YOLO. Gary and Sherri think we can live again, not as James Bond, but as being reborn. Consequently, we are having fun in our life, after all, You Only Live Twice.

Adventure 008, Hike 070 - McKenzie Trail

Capture California, the Game-2012
Adventure: 008, Hike 070 – McKenzie Trail
Team: Thing One, Thing Two
Date:  August 28, 2012
Location: Fresno
Hike Info:
Trail: McKenzie Trail
Distance: 3.1 miles
Duration: 0:54
Elevation Rise: 88'

Description:
It is amazing how quickly you can move when the ground is level and there is not very much of a rise. The GPS said that we went up 88' over the 3 miles—we think it is exaggerating.

This is an urban trial on the east side of Fresno. Way before the Cat in the Hat came along—the trail was created in 1970 as part of the rails to trails act--Thing One and Thing Two would ride our bikes along this multi-use path, even doing time-trials along it. The time trials were a bit of a stretch, since you had to wait at a few busy streets. But we still did it as a bike club. But on this cool Fresno morning—well cool for summer in Fresno—we walked this 1.5 mile trail and back. We saw many people riding their bikes and many more walking it. It was one of the first trails in Fresno. It looks like the City and County has tried to make some improvements by planting shrubs, and trees and adding lighting.
