Adventure 220, Event 06-Fall Colors

Sherri Kicking Up Leaves
Capture California, the Game-2013
Adventure: 220, Event 06-Fall Colors
Happy FACEBOOK FRIDAY! Enjoy this beautiful fall day by jumping or crunching in a pile of leaves!
Team: YOLT
Date:  October 18, 2013
Location: Woodward Park, Fresno
Description:
Fall may be in the air throughout the great state of California, but someone forgot to tell Fresno that! We went to two of our city's major parks, Roeding and Woodward and experienced the finest weather Fresno has to give. But there was nary a leaf fallen there. Either the groundskeepers are doing a spectacular job of raking or we still have several more weeks of fine weather before we see leaves falls.
So you do what you can and let your inner child come out and stomp and kick around what leaves you can find, enjoying our fine warm weather.

Adventure 220, Event 05-Friday at the County Park

Sherri at the County Courthouse Park
Capture California, the Game-2013
Adventure: 220, Event 05-Friday at the County Park

Team: YOLT
Date:  September 13, 2013
Location: Courthouse Park, Fresno

Description:
Tonight when we were pondering what County Park to go to, we considered the options: traveling 30-40 miles to some of the more recreational parks, or maybe go to one local. By going local, that really only gives us one choice—Fresno County's Courthouse Park. This park is exactly what it sound like an oasis of green surrounding the County's Courthouse amongst the cement buildings.

What we expected was to go downtown, snap a picture or two and leave. But what we got was a nice, easy and informative walking tour of about 30 minutes. The Fresno County Office of Tourism has put together a walking tour of the park, with its collections of memorials, statues, and art. This tour shows the diversity of Fresno-veterans, Hmong, Latino's, and Armenians are a few of the groups represented.

As the brochure says:
Courthouse Park is a park for all the people, a place where the county has come together to celebrate and grieve, to relax amid the lush landscape, to watch every thing from board games to bandstand concerts, and to witness the passing parade and reflect on all that makes Fresno distinctive. It is, therefore, appropriate that within its shaded walks are memorials for numerous individuals and events that shaped our county.
