Sometimes you just wonder about some of the local registries of historic places. The claim to fame on this house is that it was the first house built in the Alta Vista Tract in Fresno. Dr. Howard, with his wife Grace, built the house. Dr Howard was born Feb 16, 1878 in San Jose. By 1900 he had found himself in Fresno, California having lived in Squaw Valley and Temperance for a time. He became a dentist by attending San Jose State around 1909. By 1940, this house was worth $4,500; today's value on this 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath, 2,000 square foot house is $153,000. At the age of 59, Dr. Howard passed away.
