Pilibos Building
Capture California, the Game-2013
Adventure: 003, Site 061-Pilibos Building
Local Registry ID: 277

Team: YOLT
Date:  September 15, 2013
Location:
Address: 830 Van Ness Avenue, Fresno

Description:
Date Built: 1961
Architect: Robert Stevens

We can say, this building did not look historical to us. But it is listed on the local registry. But why? With it boarded up and only the Hans Sumpf tile showing, it certainly does not look impressive. As nearly as we can tell, it must be because of the local architect, Rober Stevens, which we admit, we know nothing about.

Pilibos Building (1961)

830 Van Ness Avenue
Mid-century Modern
Robert Stevens, Architect

This is the first building constructed in the 1960s to be placed on Fresno's Local Register of Historic Resources. The two-story Mid-century Modern building is enhanced by a facade of Hans Sumpf adobe tiles, designed by local artist Stan Bitters.
