Location:
Address: 2811 Mariposa Street, Fresno

Description:
Date Built: 1926
Architect: Emmett G. Martin

Right across the street from St. Johns Catholic Cathederal. This evening both buildings are in use as we see the building hall. From the outside, this brick building is more boxing, but utilitiarian shaped. The people coming out seemed content and ready to go over for worship on this Sunday evening. We, on the other hand, moved on to the Collins House on our tour of historical houses.

St Johns Hall

St. John's Hall School (1926)

2811 Mariposa Street
Emmett G. Martin, Architect
Collegiate Gothic

This building served as Fresno's parochial school from its construction in 1926 until the 1960s. Today it is used as a community hall for St. John's Cathedral across the street. It is an excellent example of brick Collegiate Gothic architecture, an unusual style in Fresno.
