When Thing One saw this sign, he thought, this town must really be either hard up for historical buildings to have a plaque for the oldest operating hardware store west of the Mississippi, or that Placerville had greatly over bought on plaques. Which ever way it is, being in business for over 150 years or more is reason enough to celebrate.
