Vacaville and Pena Adobe. Juan Felipe Pena and Juan Manuel Vaca were
partners. Vaca sold part of his property to William McDonald. There
was a provision that McDonald was to name a city after Vaca, which
turned into Vacaville.
From NRHP:
The Pena Adobe was built in 1842 or soon after with adobe mud from nearby Lake Laguna. Restored in 1965 using original materials, it closely resembles the original building, except th roof thatch is replaced by hand split shakes. The entire dwelling was sheathed In redwood siding prior to 1870 which accounts for its good condition when restored. Between 1870-1880 a frame addition of 24* x 18' was added. This has been removed distance and is now a museum and office.
