Do you eat Cracker Bread? Peda Bread? Then is the place which you need to thank. It is a Valley shrine.
In the early 1900’s, Gazair Saghatelian set out from his troubled homeland on a journey of freedom. He and his family immigrated to the United States desiring to bake his wonderful Armenian breads in peace. Gazair set up shop next door to his new home on M Street and Santa Clara in the heart of downtown Fresno, and in 1922, California Baking Company was born. This building was constructed for Gazair Saghatelian as one of several bakeries in Fresno's Armenian Town. The bakery is still operated by the Saghatelian family in its original buildings, and is the only remaining Armenian bakery in the neighborhood.
