Date: September 18, 2012
Location:
Address: 6351 Olemda, Atascadero, CA
Date Built: 1915
Architect: Walter J Bliss
Just a short walk from the Atascadero Colony Administration Building, we walk it. But there is no sign there signifying, so we walk on until we notice that the numbers are going away from the Olemda address. So we turn back an find this magnificent, old, crumbling building saying to keep out. Instead of saying anything about this being the Printery, it says the Masonic Temple. But the address is right, so a picture we take.
But when we got home, there is more to this story than just seeing an old crumbling building from a distance. This building was the first civic building in Atascadero. It is also reported to have some beautiful murals on the interior walls. But the building is unsafe for entry and from various statements found, there is not much recent effort to stabilize the building.
